Internships

 

The GraduateOn programme will provide graduates with opportunities for paid internships in the private and public sector in West Sussex and neighbouring areas. These opportunities may range from short-term, expenses only internships within the charity sector to fully-paid internships, lasting several months. 

 

We will:

  • Notify you of internship opportunities by email once you have registered with GraduateOn

  • Offer University of Chichester graduates a CV assessment by a business expert

  • Support you through the application and interview process

For some projects, we will provide you with academic support during your project. 

We assess every internship opportunity to ensure that it provides a valuable work experience for a graduate.

Graduate Placements

RESEARCHER AND CANDIDATE RESOURCER (POTENTIAL PROGRESSION TO BECOME A CONSULTANT)  GJS Ref:  13117 UoC Ref:  013

HOURS:  FULL TIME (INITIAL 3 MONTH PROJECT WITH THE OPPORTUNITY OF A PERMANENT POSITION)

LOCATION: CHICHESTER

SALARY:  £8 PER HOUR

CLOSING DATE:  MONDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2012

OUTLINE OF PROJECT

To build and expand the client database and work closely with customers who are based in London and the South East. 

The aim of the project is to identify potential new clients that operate in the relevant business area and identify key contacts before updating the central database.  This role will involve web based research, networking and telephone work.

There will be an opportunity to play an active part in the other business activities within the company such as candidate resourcing for existing clients, writing advert copy, liaising with candidates and working with researchers and consultants to assist them in achieving their sales objectives. 

SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Good communication and networking skills are needed and the role will require work to be completed quickly and accurately.  Therefore, a confident, pro-active candidate with attention to detail and people skills is required.

Designing, in conjunction with the directors/and their business adviser.

            - calendar plan for mktg activities - related to the seasonality of the business

            - setup appropriate social media tool

            - website copy update (in conjunction with the web developer)

 

SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • a basic understanding of Marketing planning and Marketing communications
  • familiarity with graphics and desktop publishing packages desirable
  • good knowledge of MS office packages
  • understanding of basic website design and copy writing is desirable
  • team working and communication skills are essential

To develop graphics software in support of a range of flight simulation and virtual training applications. 

SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Interests/experience should include one or more of the following:-

  • Good programming skills in C and C++
  • A solid grasp of software engineering principles
  • A knowledge of object orientated design methods
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Experience using Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience using scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • A passion for computer graphics!

 

DISPATCH OPERATIONS MANAGER - UoC ref: 010 - GJS Ref: 13050

HOURS:  FULL TIME (13 WEEKS WITH A VIEW TO A LONGER CONTRACT)

LOCATION:  FORD, NEW ARUNDEL

SALARY:  £8 PER HOUR

CLOSING DATE:  MONDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2012

OUTLINE OF PROJECT

The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in all areas of this small, busy business. 

This will include working hands on in order processing and make-up, improving internet, retail and conventional business, reviewing efficiencies in procedures, logistics and delivery, quality audit, waste control and production efficiency, creating reports and collaborative work with other staff. 

There will be a separate project to improve sustainability and bio efficiency of the business. 

SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Academic achievements to support the project requirements, eg, Business, IT, Environment or Process Management. 

 

TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT - UoC Ref: 008 - GJS Ref: 12988

HOURS:  FULL TIME

LOCATION:  WORTHING TOWN CENTRE

HOURLY RATE:  £8 FOR 10 WEEKS (WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT)

CLOSING DATE:  TUESDAY 31ST JANUARY 2012

OUTLINE OF PROJECT

To work within the audit department alongside and under the supervision of qualified auditors, working on clients' accounts and visiting clients to undertake audits.

SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

A degree in Maths, Business Studies, Economics, Statistics or Accountancy and Finance preferred. 

 

MARKETING EXECUTIVE - UoC Ref:  002

 Full time 37 hours per week for 10 weeks

 Location: Petersfield, Hampshire

 £8 per hour

Outline of Project:

  • Marketing which will involve research, database building and management in target markets.  The position will also involve making appointments for the sales team. 

Specialist skills or knowledge requirements:

  • A diploma or a degree in Marketing
  • Experience or market research, building contact lists and managing a database as well as using and populating Excel spreadsheets
  • Able to analyse data from target markets and recommend priorities
  • IT and web literate for research
  • Able to use social media sites
  • Confident telephone manner

 

 

 

Introduction

 

GraduateOn links  recent graduates and local businesses together to provide paid internship opportunities in West Sussex and its neighbouring counties. Between 2008 to March 2011 it found over 100 work opportunities in West Sussex, many leading to permanent jobs. 

 

Re-launched in November 2011, GraduateOn is once again able to offer subsidies to employers, and a CV assessment service to our graduates.

 

The Offer to Businesses:

 

GraduateOn will:

 

Provide £1,000 subsidy to your business, if you are able to offer a 10 week internship with a salary equivalent to £8.00 per hour or more.  Other options are available.

  • Assist you to draft the job description to advertise  your vacancy 
  • Advertise the post for free on this website and in our Careers department
  • Forward  the applicants’ CVs to you, to allow you to select who to interview
  • For longer or more advanced projects, we can offer academic support to your graduate employee.

 There is no obligation to employ the graduate beyond the internship period.

 

The Offer to Graduates:

  • For graduates from any University, who have graduated within the last 3 years, we offer a range of internships across West Sussex and neighbouring areas notified to you via email once you have registered.
  • For University of Chichester graduates only, we can offer a CV assessment, where a business expert will personally check your CV by email and in a face-to-face meeting, to prepare you for job applications.
